Unfortunately this website is massively out of date as I do not have time to update it properly... As of January 2016 I am working with Typescript, HTML5 and Node rather than Flex. My CV linked here has been updated.
Hopefully one of these days I will be able to do a proper job of this website.

Hi, my name is Giles Roadnight and I am a freelance Flex developer working in and around the south east of the UK and London. I started using Flex in around September 2006 and have been using it nearly full time since then.

Before using Flex I was a Flash actionscript developer for about 4 years. I didn't particularly like Flash as a development environment though and when I tried Flex it was like a breath of fresh air.

I really enjoy working with Flex as it's so quick and easy to build very impressive and powerful applications. The possibilities of AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) make Flex a very useful language to be familiar with.
I have a number of Flex projects of my own that I'd love to get started on but I never seem to have time!

I am always on the look out for new and interesting Flex projects to work on so I put this site together to show off some of my work. You can also download my latest and most up to date CV or view an online version.

These are my core skills. I use Coldfusion mostly to create CFCs for Flex to communicate with the backend. I also have experience using Coldfusion to build websites but these days I would choose to build a Flex site instead. I am trying to find the time to re-write my own sites using Flex. I am in the process of updating my server to CF 8 and am looking forward to getting to grips with the new features.
Cairngorm is a framework for flex based on the MVC methodology. I use this whenever I can.
